Fall, Football, Family and Faith!
We are finally feeling just a little hint of Fall in the air here in Houston! We were able to join the Law family in Salado, Texas for the weekend. Scott Law is my sister Anne's son and she and her husband Veryl and his brother Vance and sister-in-law Sharon all converged at the Law Law Land Ranch. Scott and his wife Jessica were so generous to welcome us to their beautiful ranch and into their busy home of eight children! We had fun tagging along with Anne and Veryl to watch their grandchildren play volleyball and football. We knew that football is big in Texas, but it was fun to witness the enthusiasm in person.
The field was lined with pick up trucks for the spectators!
These families are serious about their football!
Scott is such a great coach! Here is is with an injured player (he was ok) and then comforting and encouraging a boy who had fumbled the ball. He went on to score the winning touchdown!
Is there anything cuter than eight year olds all suited up playing tackle football?!
Maybe eight year old cheerleaders!
Wesley Law did a great job as quarterback!
Scott gave us a tour of the ranch, including the chicken coop, and amazing green house!
This was one of our favorite chickens - it looks like a couple of pom poms glued together!
It was great to watch conference with family.
Red with his beloved Papa watching President Nelson.
Conference was amazing as usual! I can't wait to listen to all of the talks again.
Back in Houston - we have to work out to be able to enjoy all of the great food available in Houston!
Mambo's was delicious!
On Monday we drove into Houston for a mission Health Council. We meet with each mission once a month. Sometimes we are close enough to attend in person, but often it is by phone or video conference. We meet with the Mission President and his wife, the mission nurse if they have one and a counselor from LDS Family services. We talk about any missionaries who might be struggling emotionally or physically and council together about how we might help them. It is an inspired program. The mission office was right next to the church's peanut butter Cannery so we stopped in to see our friends the Mechams from the MTC. We are hoping to go back and volunteer there soon! They produce peanut butter that is shipped to Bishop's Storehouses and food banks all over the world - and it is delicious!

Luke brought out a bigger pot than we needed for cooking potatoes - but it was just right for two year old Red.

We are loving mission life here in Houston, and the chance we have to be a part of bringing others unto Christ. We love the young missionaries we serve with and are proud of them for their decision to leave friends and share their faith!
So glad to see you guys doing what you love . Such a fun and inspiring blog. I'm sure you are just as inspiring to those you serve ❤❤❤
